Metal Detecting with the Rutus Versa

Rutus Versa Metal Detector Review – A Versatile Tool for Serious Treasure Hunters

The Rutus Versa metal detector would be well suited for both intermediate and experienced treasure hunters. Packed with some very usable features.
I found using this versatile detector offered exceptional performance, making it one of my top choices in 2025. Lightweight and ergonomic, the Versa is designed for comfort, allowing users to work in the field or beach for hours without strain. Its adjustable shaft ensures a perfect fit for all body types, while the large LCD screen provides clear, easy-to-read results.

Equipped with multiple search modes, the Rutus Versa will be very capable of finding various metals, including small coins, relics, and jewellery, across different terrains. The detector’s choice of factory or custom settings will make this metal detector ideal for both land and beach metal detecting. As with most top end machines, its discrimination settings allow users to filter out unwanted targets, streamlining the hunting process.
But the Rutus Versa takes it a little further, allowing the user to fine tune the machine to almost perfection.

Menu and features
The menu is simple to navigate once you spend a little time practising, remember repetition is the key to understanding where the features are and what they do.
The video at the bottom of this page will go into more detail, and offer an easy to follow visual explanation.

In the field with the Rutus Versa
My first test was on an Iron laden Roman site, I had set the machine up at home to what I thought would be the most dynamic settings, but sometimes this all changes when you get into the field.
I got lucky because my -6 discrimination settings and Iron filter at 0 really made this metal detector sing out on small Roman coins.

I never managed to get a chance to try the Rutus Dual Modes, where the machine runs “All Metal” and “Discrimination” at the same time.
I think this will be better suited for the deep pasture test

Frequency choices
The Rutus Versa can run on single frequencies 4 to 40 Khz or 10 choices of Multi Frequency.
I really liked the way that troublesome EMI was visible on the screen, allowing the user to quickly find a clean channel.
